Dalam laporannya, PBB mengingatkan lebih dari 40 persen penduduk dunia mengalami Krisis Air Bersih dalam beberapa tahun ke depan. Dan jika hal ini dibiarkan, sebanyak lebih dari 700 juta orang pada tahun 2030 akan mengalami kesulitan mendapat akses air bersih.

Faktanya air merupakan elemen sangat penting dalam aktivitas manusia setiap hari. Selain mendukung aktivitas sanitasi (Mencegah permasalahan kesehatan dari kuman dan bakteri), manfaat air juga dirasakan untuk minum dan konsumsi (memasak).

Meski memiliki siklusnya sendiri, sayangnya pengolahan yang buruk membuat Air sering menjadi barang langka dan sulit di cari. Hal ini yang kemudian menjadi awal munculnya permasalahan Krisis Air Bersih di seluruh dunia, salah satunya di Indonesia.

Bukan sesuatu yang baru, meski berada di wilayah tropis, beberapa daerah di Indonesia kerap mengalami krisis sumber air bersih. Terutama pada saat musim kemarau, saat beberapa sumber air seperti sungai dan sumur resapan kering karena debit air yang biasa ditampung dari hujan menurun.


Tak kalah dengan di Indonesia, hanya saja beberapa negara telah mensiasati datangnya krisis air bersih di musim kemarau dengan beberapa cara. Diantaranya menggunakan tekhnologi dan metode penjernihan air yang bertujuan mengubah air limbah menjadi layak digunakan, bahkan dikonsumi.

Cara tersebut antara lain dilakukan di negara Singapura, China dan Australia. Ketiga negara tersebunt berhasil mempercepat siklus air secara buatan. Di Arab Saudi dan beberapa negara di dunia, metode penjernihan air dilakukan lebih jauh. Yakni dengan memanfaatkan kelebihan sumber air laut yang kaya di negara tersebut menjadi layak digunakan bahkan dikonsumsi.

Cara tersebut bahkan lebih komplek dilakukan dengan menstimulasi datangnya air hujan dengan prosedur penggaraman awan. Sehingga negara yang hanya mendapat hujan beberapa kali dalam setahun tersebut kini mengalami aktivitas hujan setiap saat. Di Indonesia, meski berjalan lambat, metode pengolahan air limbah sudah mulai banyak dilakukan. Salah satunya dengan aktivitas pembuatan pipa resapan dengan tujuan mengoptimalkan sumber air hujan dan limbah buangan untuk disimpan dan diolah di dalam tanah.

Proses buatan tersebut secara alami memilki manfaat filterisasi air secara alami. Karena tanah dan bebatuan secara alami bekerja memisah air dengan pathogen yang dapat berdampak buruk pada kesehatan.

Prosedur pengolahan air limbah yang baik tak hanya membuat lingkungan menjadi sehat bebas penyakit, tapi juga menjadi aktivitas positif dalam menyelamatkan sumber air bersih.
